Sesame Street Live

Yesterday Jack and I went with our friends, Mandy and Brett, to see Sesame Street Live: When Elmo Grows Up. We went to a different show last year and had a great time. So....I thought, "He's older now...it will be even more enjoyable". I was quite wrong. He was pretty good the first 45 minutes despite the fact that he was seated directly behind a very tall man. I tried to have him on my lap for a while but baby sister didn't seem to like that. So I finally switched seats with him. He did ok and even stood on his seat for a bit until intermission. For some reason at intermission, he decided it was time to go home. I left the theater to try to make him happy and decided it was a good time to use the restroom, too. Things went from bad to worse as the crowds filtered into the bathroom. So many people, so much noise!! Anyway I decided NOT to try to change the diaper figuring we only had another 30 minutes before it was over. When I tried to go back into the theater, he went CRAZY screaming and crying telling me "that way" and pointing to the exit! He also peed through his jeans and through my shirt since I was now holding my sweet, tantruming 2 year-old. It was a mess. But, all in all, the show was good and I did finally force him back into the theater for the last 10 minutes or so. Then we went to Wendy's for lunch and then headed home for naptime. Too bad he wouldn't actually nap.....I could've used the rest.

Our little RainMan

I hope someone thinks this is normal...here's what Jack did for about an hour this morning. He first dumped out the ABC puzzle onto the floor and then proceeded to alphabetize the letters on the carpet. After he finished, he said "You want to move the alphabet?" and did it again on the wood floor. Then he decided to be really creative and do them backwards (he still started with "A", but did them from right to left), and then said, "You want to move the alphabet again?" and put them back in the correct order on a new spot on the carpet. He finally put them into the appropriate spaces on the puzzle before calling it quits.

Happy Valentine's Day

I made Valentine cookies for my boys and here are a few pictures of Jack enjoying a heart-shaped cookie. I think the sugar must've been too much for him because afterward, at naptime, he was running in circles in his room and recited the book, "Little Quack's Bedtime" THREE times in a row. He was literally running in a circle and would stop, briefly, to turn the page and then go back to his same path. CRAZY!!!
He kissed the cat and said "Happy Valentimes Binky"(we call Ben "Binky" for some reason). Ben only allowed the display of affection because he could smell the frosting on Jack's mouth!
OK, kinda' weird of me to include this....but I went to put a new roll of toilet paper on the holder and noticed the cardboard was shaped like a heart. Some times the littlest things can make us smile. I hope you all smile a lot today!
