More smiles...

Here's a small clip of Lyla smiling. I know I keep posting pictures of her smiling but....let's face it, all she can do at this point is sleep, pee, poop (fart), scream and smile. I figured the latter was the best to show off.

Jack's big day

I finally got around to taking Jack to a real salon to get his hair cut. We went to Zoo Cuts and he did pretty well. He was excited to sit in the race car chair and see himself in the mirror. But when the stylist put the cape on him, making it impossible for him to use his arms -- he kinda' freaked out and started crying. I tucked the cape back so he could have his arms free and he did fine. He didn't mind the cutting or clippers, since I've been using clippers on him for over a year! I can't believe he sat still! He wiggles all over the place when I do it at home. Here are a few pictures.... Jack in the car that was not meant for a child of his "girth".

Nervous, anyone?

SLEEEEEEP

Lyla surprised us this weekend by sleeping through the night!! She had her last bottle at around 9 pm Friday night and didn't wake up for another until 5 am. She did it again Saturday and Sunday nights. I'm hoping she will want to sleep until at least 6am soon, but I'm trying to remind myself that she's only 5 weeks old!Her hair always seems to look red in pictures, Jack's was the same way??
It seems like whenever I get a really good smile, she closes her eyes. Oh, well. We'll keep trying.

Smiley Lyla

Here are just a couple of pictures of some early smiles. Hopefully we'll see more of them in the future!
This "one-eyed" wink-y smile seems to be a Werner trait.

Lyla is one month old!!

Lyla had her one month doctor appointment yesterday and weighed 10 pounds and was 22 inches long. Jack, at one month, was only 9 pounds 8 ounces, but was 22 3/4 inches long. She gained almost 2 pounds and grew 1 1/4 inches in TWO WEEKS!!
I tried to get a picture of the two of them sitting together but Jack was in a big hurry to get down and play. He's still not very interested in "posing" for pictures with his baby sister.
Poor Jack! He was on the bed, leaning onto Lyla's crib to get "baby Wy-wa's unicorn" and must've slipped. All I heard was a thud and some screaming (I was in the room changing her diaper) and after I picked him up to cuddle for a bit, noticed that he was bleeding pretty badly from the mouth. We got the blood washed away and I discovered that he had somehow scraped his gums right above his front two teeth!! It looks like the teeth are fine and he seemed to be ok very quickly--but this morning, I noticed how swollen his top lip is. Here's a picture I took of him at the park this morning.
A little swollen smile...
Lyla's first tummy time...
Jack enjoying the hanging toys. I told him he loved to play with the duck when he was a baby and he seemed excited about that.
Here's a picture of Jack at one month old, playing with the kick and play. He and Lyla look similar, but thank goodness she doesn't have the Archie Bunker hair-style happening yet!
Jack actually kissed Lyla on the cheek but, of course, when we tried to get a picture of it...this is all he would do. Oh well, there will be plenty more opportunities, I'm sure!

Random pictures

Ok, I've been really bad about posting pictures. Mostly because I'm sleeping about 4 hours a night and am not even TAKING pictures during the hours I'm "awake". But also because I never seem to find time to get on the computer. I am telling myself that this will all change soon, though!! Here's a hodgepodge of pictures.....ENJOY!!Lyla Kate, getting bigger everyday...
She wore this to the park today since it was 80 degrees! Look, her legs are actually starting to plump up! She also seems to be losing some of her hair, and the hair she still has is already lighter. Hmmmm I wonder what she will look like in another month?
She got this outfit from Mommaw and Poppaw and she's getting too long for most of her newborn clothes, so I'm trying to get pictures while she can still wear 'em. Here she is giving a little smile,... probably gas!

He's getting soooo big -- Daddy had to cover his jubblies because the towel is a bit short!

Family pictures

Daddy with the kids! Lyla really seems to enjoy lying on her Daddy's leg...although it doesn't really look like it in this picture.
I took Lyla to her two week well visit on Wednesday. You can't really tell, but I dressed her in a pretty dress and matching headband. I was shocked when the nurse put my tiny little girl on the scale and she weighed 8 pounds, 4 ounces!! That explains where she's putting all that food! She already takes 4 ounce bottles.
She was making some crazy faces -- here's the best "smile" I could catch on camera.
Jack and Lyla hanging out.
