Tummy time

I feel bad for posting pictures of Lyla without including some of Jack--but I guess he had two and a half years of pictures without her so it's all fair, right?
I don't think Jack could lift himself this far off the ground until he was 8 or 9 months old! Lyla loves being on her tummy. I'll put her on her tummy and then go make Jack's lunch or something and come back 10 minutes later and she's in the same position-- still smiling (and drooling). She especially loves it if the cat sits close enough for her to see. When Jack was a baby, I'd put him on his tummy and within about a minute, he'd be face down in spit-up and crying. I guess it's a lot harder to hold up your head when it's GINORMOUS!

Doggies

OK, I know this blog is supposed to be for my kids -- but here are some pictures of our "first kids"...(some are a bit icky--be warned)The puppies playing --clueless of what's about to happen. You can tell Kirby is NOT using the back right leg at all in this photo taken the day before his surgery.
Lucy, the morning of HER surgery. Her right eye is the bad one, you can tell it's bigger than the other and because of the detached retina, cataract, and glaucoma it reflects light differently than the other one, too.
Kirby, the day after surgery (the day he came home). Get used to that crate, Kirby, you'll be spending a LOT of time in it the next 10 weeks!!
Ouch!
Was it really necessary to shave THIS MUCH of his leg?
Lucy, the day of surgery (she came home the same day).
Kirby's leg a day or two later...
Lucy, a day or two later... Overall, they both seem to be back to normal. Kirby tries to get me to play ball every time I take him out for a potty break (he grabs it in his mouth even with the cone on his head!!) and he is putting weight on his leg now. He keeps wanting to jump and play (which is strictly prohibited for another 9 weeks). He goes to the vet Saturday to, hopefully, get his stitches out and cone off. Lucy seems totally fine, other than being very annoyed at wearing the cone. She goes for her post-op recheck on Monday. They are pretty much done with their meds except Kirby still gets an anti-inflammatory twice a day. This is a huge relief for me since, at one time, they were getting 17 pills a day at all different times. I've had my hands FULL! Thanks for all of your concerns -- I was surprised how many people asked about them.

kids

Jack was in a really good mood the other day and actually sat near Lyla and even TOUCHED her!! I got a few pictures in case it never happens again...She's getting so big!
Jack threw the ball to her and seemed happy that she was interested in it.

Lyla is THREE months old!!

Here's the most recent picture of her from last night. I realize the hat doesn't match, but we've been going for nightly walks to the park and the sun is usually right in her eyes. I thought the hat might help...
Jack's favorite part of the outing is NOT playing on the playground...it is finding and then chasing bunnies!!
Go, bunny, go!
He did go on the slide a few times that night. He hasn't been on them much since he fell off a few weeks ago...we were glad to see him trying again.

updates...

Sorry I haven't been posting much lately. Jack started having really bad tantrums DAILY about the time of my last post. We bought many books and talked to our pediatrician's office and after many tears (his AND mine) we started a reward chart for good behavior days. I have also been taking him on nightly walks to burn off some extra energy and he's back on his Allegra which should help him sleep better. He has gone 5 consecutive days with no tantrums!! Keep your fingers crossed and prayers going. In addition to that, our pets have decided to have simultaneous break-downs!! We've been to veterinarians more in the last two months than, I think, in the last two years?? Ben just had his teeth cleaned and a tooth pulled, no biggie, he's on antibiotics twice daily. If you've never given a cat a pill before, I wouldn't recommend it --it's not fun. Kirby had his teeth cleaned and some x-rays. He was diagnosed with hip dysplasia and a luxating patella. There's nothing we can do about the hips but he has a surgical consultation next week to find out our options for repairing his knee. He gets a pill twice a day for pain. Lucy was diagnosed with glaucoma and has finally seen the opthamologist and is scheduled to have her right eye removed next week. Poor girl. She gets a pill 3 times a day and drops in her eye 3 times a day. Kirby and Lucy are also still getting bi-weekly allergy shots and daily allergy pills. I feel like my day is spent administering pills, changing diapers, feeding hungry children, and cleaning up as many messes as I can. I need a vacation!!! So, hopefully this will all settle down soon and I can go back to happily blogging about my beautiful children!
