OK, I know this blog is supposed to be for my kids -- but here are some pictures of our "first kids"...(some are a bit icky--be warned)The puppies playing --clueless of what's about to happen. You can tell Kirby is NOT using the back right leg at all in this photo taken the day before his surgery.
Lucy, the morning of HER surgery. Her right eye is the bad one, you can tell it's bigger than the other and because of the detached retina, cataract, and glaucoma it reflects light differently than the other one, too.
Kirby, the day after surgery (the day he came home). Get used to that crate, Kirby, you'll be spending a LOT of time in it the next 10 weeks!!
Kirby's leg a day or two later...
Lucy, a day or two later...
Overall, they both seem to be back to normal. Kirby tries to get me to play ball every time I take him out for a potty break (he grabs it in his mouth even with the cone on his head!!) and he is putting weight on his leg now. He keeps wanting to jump and play (which is strictly prohibited for another 9 weeks). He goes to the vet Saturday to, hopefully, get his stitches out and cone off. Lucy seems totally fine, other than being very annoyed at wearing the cone. She goes for her post-op recheck on Monday. They are pretty much done with their meds except Kirby still gets an anti-inflammatory twice a day. This is a huge relief for me since, at one time, they were getting 17 pills a day at all different times. I've had my hands FULL! Thanks for all of your concerns -- I was surprised how many people asked about them.
