playing with cars

Jack was playing with cars (he has named his plastic, Playskool cars "Mater", "McQueen", "Sheriff", "Chick Hicks"...etc.) and Lyla REALLY wanted to play. This is the first picture in the sequence of three. Lyla crawls over and Jack is just happy to be playing with his cars...
...she's getting closer.....Jack is still smiling...
Too close for comfort... "No, Lylie. Don't take Mater", he says.

Lylie's crawling!

Lyla just took her first "steps" crawling last night (NOT bunny hopping) so today I got her to crawl to the pretty, shiny camera! OOOOOH! She can ALMOST go from lying on her tummy to sitting, too.

Pictures

We FINALLY got Lyla's 6 month pictures and Jack's 3 year pictures -- a month or so late.
OOPS!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...**

The new development behind our house was having a tree lighting ceremony, visit from Santa and other festivities Saturday evening. We took the kids for a while....it turned out to be a very short while...I forgot that babies don't enjoy being stuck in a stroller looking at people's knees for too long!
We actually left before the tree was lit, but you can't really tell in this black and white picture!
REINDEER! Jack seemed to like this part a lot. They are going to be there each weekend, I'm sure we'll visit them again.
My guys
There were several little buildings just the right size for Jack...
It was only about 50 degrees, but with a light wind and no sun, it sure felt colder. **Hey, I think that's me and Lyla in the background...
Jack was inside the little bank building and right after I took this picture, he pressed his nose and mouth against the window. It was pretty funny.

Jack's school picture

This is Jack's first class picture. I have several of my own class pictures where my head towers above the other kids......my poor baby boy!

Lightning McQueen & the park

A few more touches on the transformation of Jack's BIG BOY room.
I ordered these posters online. I am still waiting for the valance and wall clock.
He looks so tiny in his bed. He still prefers to sleep across the bed sideways?? At least he has room to do that now.
It was about 73 degrees today (we were dressed for 63 degrees, though) so we went to the park after lunch. Lyla loves riding in the wagon. Probably because Jack rides with her.
Big brother on the playground

Lyla's 7 months old!!!

Lyla's 7 months old now, she's still not quite crawling. She does the "inchworm" and "bunny hop" on her hands and knees. She'll get it right any day now. She's turned out to be a pretty happy gal. She adores her brother and Daddy...she can't get enough of their attention. Jack has started showing a lot of interest in "helping" me feed and even diaper her. He's turning out to be a terrific big brother and mommy's little helper.
SMOOCH!
Lyla and Kirby
He drives me crazy, but he sure takes a lot of torture! She loves pulling his hair, and ears.
He didn't move the whole time

story time

Jack came in Lyla's room when she woke up this morning. He decided he wanted to read to her...

She wants to feel the fuzzy animals
I'm so glad he loves his sister (finally)
He was rocking the chair -- she LOVED it

goofing around

Lyla took an evening nap on daddy's tummy...
...waking up
Aww....

kiddos

Here's a picture of my sweet boy, watching Cars, on day three of his fever....Kirby was keeping his feet warm.
Not quite crawling yet....(pardon the runny nose)
Awww.....kisses
We took turns putting this elephant on our heads...it fit Lyla perfectly!

Trick or Treat

Jack went Trick-or-Treating for the first time this year. Matt coached him on what to say and he did a pretty good job. Like most 3 year olds, he was a little shy. We met up with our neighbors and went to a few houses with them. He liked that a LOT! Lyla went along in the stroller, in her witch costume, but cried a lot since it was time for her evening nap. Poor Jack must've sweated off a few pounds in his fleece-lined nylon pants, flannel firefighter jacket, and hat. It was in the 80s that day. When we finished trick-or-treating, he put on shorts and a t-shirt and helped us pass out candy. Next year he'll know what to do and Lyla can toddle along with him!
